How to look your best in tunics

Tunics are a great, flattering clothing items that can look good on just about everyone! When you're buying one, think about your figure. Tunic tops work particularly well on apple shapes, as they skim gently over your tummy. On the other hand, if you have an hourglass, they can leave you looking a little shapeless; to combat this, be sure to choose belted tunics that will emphasise your waist. There are different lengths of tunic available, too. Pear shapes should go a little longer so that they are not cut off at the wide point of their thighs – but if you're short, make sure your tunic is, too! If not, you'll end up looking drowned in fabric.

Styling your women's tunics for year-round cool

Tunics for women are relaxed, loose-fitting garments, which means it's important to play with volume throughout your outfit. If you go loose on the bottom, too, you'll look sloppy and hippie-ish. It's far better to pair loose with tight; go for skinny jeans or leggings. In summer, women's tunics look great with a pair of capri pants and wedges. In winter, stick to jeans or trousers in a contrasting colour: Light tunic, dark bottoms, and vice versa. If you're feeling bold and your tunics are long enough, you could wear them as dresses in winter. Pair tunic tops with long coats or jackets to stay warm, opaque tights and pop on your favourite ankle boots for a look that's cute but still a little edgy.

The best accessories for tunic tops

If you have a pear-shaped figure, try wearing a bold, statement necklace with your tunics for women. This will help draw more attention to your top half. Necklaces are a particularly good idea if your tunics are a solid colour. Choose a long one with an interesting pendant, or go for big, bold beads for a rustic style. There's an important rule here, though: Go for a necklace or a belt, but never the two together – the combination will be too overwhelming. For a belt, try something thick and chunky. A wide belt will look great with a tunic, particularly if its colour complements the material. When choosing your accessories, keep in mind the look that you want to create. It's easy for tunic tops to look a bit flower child; you could embrace this with hippie-style jewellery, or go for more modern, metallic styles to keep an edge.
