Caps for urban cool
Caps are great accessories. Fun and casual, they’re an ideal way to cover up a bad hair day – or accentuate your look! To enjoy a traditionally popular style, try a baseball cap. You can go for a plain cap or choose one with a logo; these are a common style of urban headwear, so you'll often find them with logos from your favourite streetwear brand. The traditional style is the snapback cap. This has a wide brim and a plastic fastening at the back of the head; for an alternative, try a velcro style. Choose whether you want to bend your brim or not. Bending it gives it a sportier look, and is more practical for keeping the sun out of your eyes. Leaving the brim straight is ideal if you're trying to create a rap vibe.
A funky retro look with newsboy caps
An alternative to a baseball cap, the newsboy cap is a great way to go back in time in style! In particular, this kind of hat looks great in winter. Traditionally, they're often made from corduroy and come in a variety of colours. Black always looks good and so do cream, purple, or deep green. For a quirky, unusual take on this classic, add a cluster of pins and badges just to one side. Don't line them up too perfectly – they should be off-centre for a casual style. Newsboy caps are a bit roomier than the baseball cap style, so you can tuck all your hair up underneath it if you like, leaving a few strands loose.
The best way to style women’s caps
Caps for women can often be used to create a sporty vibe. The easiest way to do this is by pulling your hair up into a ponytail and keeping your clothes super-casual. If you want to look a little more put together, add some big earrings. Hoops are a classic, but you could go for a statement-making style if you prefer. If you don't want to look like you're on your way to the gym, then try other casual garments. You could wear them with cute mini dresses for something a bit different, or wear a pair of overalls or a dungaree dress over a plain T-shirt. In winter, pair your newsboy caps with a thick jumper.
